Abstract

The study was conducted to determine whether the academic self-esteem and anxiety levels of preschool children aged 60-72 months are related, if there is a relationship, to what extent, and whether the level of academic self-esteem differs according to the variables of the child's gender, school attendance time, school type and the seniority of the teacher. . The relational survey model, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the research. The population of the research consists of 60-72 months old children attending pre-school education in Yakutiye, Palandöken and Aziziye districts of Erzurum. The sample size was calculated by determining the number of people in the population, and as a result, 300 children were included in the study. In the study, "Personal Information Form", "Academic Self-Esteem Level Scale" and "Anxiety Scale for Preschool Children" were used. Teachers were asked to fill out scale forms for each child in their class. As a result of the research, academic self-esteem of children; It was determined that there was no difference according to the variables of gender, school attendance time, school type and teacher's seniority (p>0.05). It was found that there was a negative and moderately significant relationship between the scores they got from the "Academic Self-Esteem Scale" and the scores they got from the "Anxiety Scale in Preschool Children" (p<0.05). It was determined that the level of anxiety in preschool children predicted the level of academic self-esteem at a statistically significant rate of 19% (p<0.01).
